Blue Santa 2017

Registration typically begins the first week of December. Check back here in November for specific details and contact information.

Christmas is, and always has been, a time for giving.  While most people are busy engaging in the hustle and bustle of Christmas holiday shopping, the participants of La Porte’s Blue Santa Program take a different approach by starting early and engaging in various fundraising activities within the six-month period preceding the Christmas season.

The First Baptist Church of La Porte handles all registrations for the Blue Santa program for childern. Each child receives a toy valued around $10-15. Any remaining toys will be donated to local charities and churches.

Follow us on Facebook to learn more about the distribution location and where Blue Santa will be making appearances throughout December.

The La Porte Police Department and LPCPAAA already have plans in motion to ensure each child recieves a gift. Through the support of local businesses, Elves & More, and other donations, we hope to make this the best Christmas yet!

The Blue Santa Program represents a collaborative effort between the La Porte Police Department, Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association (LPCPAAA), local Neighborhood Center, Independent School District, Ameco Equipment, Walmart corporation, as well as other sizable donations the La Porte Fire Department, Municipal Police Officer’s Association, and other private individuals.  The Program’s primary mission is to provide toys and Christmas dinners for needy children and their families in the La Porte area, many of whom would not have the means to hold traditional Christmas festivities on their own.

As a result of past year’s Blue Santa programs, the joint La Porte organizations collect new toys, including the combined distribution and delivery of bicycles, provided through the Elves & More Program.  Cash donations are used to purchase additional toys and supplies to facilitate a successful outcome of our mission to distribute toys to less fortunate families in La Porte and Shoreacres. All in all, the program’s annual efforts touch the lives of countless families every year, allowing hundreds of children to experience the joy of Christmas.

Blue Santa 2012

As a result of the 2012 Blue Santa program, the joint La Porte organizations collected nearly 1000 new toys, including some 300 bicycles provided through the Elves & More Program, with the help of area Boys and Girls Club members.  Any cash donations received were used to purchase additional toys, all of which were distributed to less fortunate families by La Porte’s Neighborhood Center and the City’s Jennie Riley Community Center. All in all, the program’s annual efforts touch the lives of numerous families every year, allowing hundreds of children to experience the joy of Christmas.

Planning is already underway for Blue Santa 2013 so why not plan on joining us in helping make this year even bigger and better than 2012!
